Current Event Quiz

1. The fire may have been caused by an intentionally set burn pile in violation of the county's burn ban. At 10:30 am officials allowed residents who live in the burn area to return to there homes. They have not released damage costs yet but said it would be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. The fire burned 34,000 races and 1,600 homes.

2. Schools are replacing paper textbooks for digital one in classrooms. Benefits of this change are less waste of paper and is a cheaper alternative. The Robertson's where having trouble because the online textbook was hard for them to use. They solved their problem by purchasing a textbook. Melissa Prepster likes the change with the textbooks.  The Eanes district s buying sets of laptops and tablets for students to share campus wide while the Leander district purchased tablets for all the students.

I like that I don't need to take as many textbooks ho,e however I do not like the online textbook and don't think its user friendly. I think that this story is not very interesting and would not make a good story for the shield.

3. Justin Trudeau is the new prime minister of Canada. Trudeau has promised some major policy changes including legalizing marijuana, dropping out of the U.S.-led bombing campaign against the Islamic State and deficit spending to pump up the economy and rebuild infrastructure. The world will change because now Canada will not help the US bomb Islam.

4. Alan Guckian is among 25 semifinalists for a Grammy related award. The 2016 Music Educator Award from the Recording Academy and the Grammy foundation. Musician Saul Paul nominated Guckian for the honor. He was among 4,500 names selected so I would say he's pretty close to winning it. He said he told his kids they would have a pizza party if he won.

5. The new coach says the longhorns are going to succeed under smart and that they must sharpen their intellectual skills along with their athletic skills. The coach is not giving playing time to those who aren't mentally tough to bribe them to be smart.
