Freshmen vs Junior views on Pep Rallies

Pep-rallies are meant to raise the spirits of high schoolers before games, it's the one time that all the classes interact and scream to be the loudest. “I like all the classes together.” Says freshman Claire Caudill “I feel like it would be really lame without the other classes because of how scared we are.” Caudill feels like the other classes have more spirit because the freshmen are embarrassed. She enjoys going to pep rallies and thinks they are “very fun and interactive.”

Anna Addison, a junior however has a very different opinion. “They're fun sometimes, but are boring all the other times because they always do the same thing.” She doesn’t think that pep rallies do their job and pump her up for a game. Addison thinks that the games are pointless, another junior, Henry Selis agrees with her. He would prefer it if they started playing musical chairs. Both juniors like that the classes are segregated Henry says he “likes the competition between the grades.”

“The games are fun to watch because you get to cheer for your class and it's a fun competition-” says Camille Selis another freshman, “plus who doesn't want to see their friends embarrassing themselves.” She agrees with Claire Caudill and thinks that “the other classes are probably less uncomfortable and awkward than the freshman which makes their cheering a lot louder.” Camille Selis likes that the classes are segregated as well and also thinks it amps up the competition. “I like watching what all of the sports and clubs have been working on” she adds, another addition to the pep rallies is to showcase the other, less popular sports at school

The Freshmen at Mccallum generally have a more open idea about the pep rallies. This is probably because they have been to less of them. The upper class may just be sick of screaming for the football team every two weeks. It seems as though the classes like being separated, Anna Addison thinks “it makes it easier to find your friends” which is always a good thing. The freshmen enjoy the games while the juniors think they maybe aren't necessary. To conclude pep rallies maybe don’t raise the spirits of everyone of the many high schoolers but overall they seem to be doing their job.
