current event quiz
1) The new details were that she was sexually assaulted and strangled. The sources are unmanned because they are authorized to not speak publicly about the case which is pretty fishy. I think they provide the information because they wanted to help in any way they could even if it was unknown who they are. I think this story has attracted media attention because not only is it a murder but there is also some mystery sources involved.
2) Technology employers give higher salary offers to men rather than women 69% of the time. Hired.comhelps connect tech employers with job seekers and they can access the salaries and job candidates. One of the causes is that women are setting their salary expectations lower then men do. This is interesting because the expectation of salaries is lower for women because maybe deep down they are used to getting paid less. As I was reading the article I was thinking that they were promoting the website a title to much.
3) The executive order changed the part of the law that used to not allow anti discrimination protections. The ACLU criticized the order immediately. Paypal said it would not build a global center there, the National Basketball avocation said they could move the game from Charlotte, Deutsch Bank said they are stopping a project that would have brought 250 jobs to the state and Bruce Springsteen said he isn't going to have a concert in the state. They are all acting out to prove that the governors executive order needs to abolish the whole law.
4) The number of child suicide bombers used by Boko Harum has gone up 11 times in the past year. A terrible consequence of this trend is the fact that CHILDREN ARE DYING. The term suicide is being rejected because the children don't want to die they are being forced to bomb and killing themselves in the process. Boko Harum is a terrorist group in Nigeria which only attacks "soft targets" versus Al-Quaida which will attacks harder targets. They aligned themselves with Al-Quaida. Money motivates people to join the terrorist group.
5) I picked "Cruz takes Trump to task, says he threatens delegates." Cruz did a radio interview where he roasted Trump saying that he doesn't deserve any delegate and people who like him should be ashamed of themselves. I liked this article purely because I hate Trump and anyone who roasts him is a friend of mine.
6) One thing that makes it different is that each paragraph of the story is a different numbered paragraph about a different subject. The most interesting was the one about Urban Meyer. I would cut out number 1 because it was boring for me to read and I should have stopped at the first sentence!

Best Day in Sports
My best day in sports was when McCallum went to districts this year and I got my best time in the hundred freestyle. In swimming your goal is to always make your time faster so it's really the only person you're racing is yourself. That morning was brisk, the kind of cold where you could wear shorts, but you should also probably wear sweatshirt. The swim center was humid unlike the outside. Hours went by as I waited and watched the other swimmers race for the best time. Then my heat was coming up, so I got ready. I got on the block and heard “swimmers take your mark,” BEEP! The race was on, as I was swimming I knew that I had reached a new speed or level, I had hit a point and I knew it would be the fastest I've ever swam. The hundred freestyle race consists of four laps in those four laps are the fastest and most silent moments. When you hit the water the noise of the screaming friends and parents died and your on your own. After I touched I immediately swung my head around and looked at the time board find me and saw that I made my fastest time. This moment was my best sports moment so far at least, because I plan to break my record again next year.

flaws
I think that both articles create problems and they have a hard time explaining the story. The weirdest thing that puts them in a strange position is the fact that the NFL participant moved and is working with a tobacco company and that they made is such a big part of the article. I think there are many things wrong with the story and overall its just a bit of a mistake but I think they should be aloud to keep the story because the Times has a good pat record with stories.
