Sports stories give highlights of different games. Gisondi says that there are five main things that sports stories must have:
- storyline: significance of the events and bits about the players involved
- basically just an overview of what happened
- context: key details, use the nut graph, not narrative
- quotes: comments from players/coaches of both teams
- key plays: important plays throughout the game
- game stories: harder to write because you have to write them sat because of quick deadlines
- research: before writing the story research the team, players and coach
- includes score, best players, interesting plays etc.
